-- A Dorchester letter carrier was attacked and slashed in an attempted robbery. The victim fought off the assailant, who was armed with a knife and ended up with nothing. The incident took place on Mount Vernon Terrace at about 2:20 p.m. on Thursday. The Herald described the suspect as "a clean shaven black male, with a black watch cap, black hoodie, sweatshirt and a diamond earring in his right ear."
