Amid news that Boston has suffered worse inflation than other U.S. cities, we've also learned that the income gap in Massachusetts is getting bigger. The two phenomena are locked in a vicious cycle: as rich people spend more money, the cost of living goes up for the rest of us, who find it harder to send our children (or ourselves) to school, which limits our chances to earn greater incomes. It sucks for the rest of us, but rich people can stop worrying about that nasty host on the Cape. Chances are, they will have their own vacation houses soon enough. more ›
