Governor Deval Patrick drove to work today from Milton on the first day of Car-Free Week. Oops! [Boston Herald] Massachusetts suspended over 100 people's licenses because they were obtained in Arizona and converted them to Bay State licenses. Did Senator Scott Brown snub Newton Mayor Setti Warren at Newton's Memorial Day Parade? Probably not. However, there was an awkward goodbye between the politicians/veterans on Sunday that was (un)fortunately caught by a WBZ camera. It looks like a whole lot of nothing except that they are potential rivals in one of the most high-profile races in 2012. Warren's side downplayed the idea of incivility between the two. But, opportunist blogger Dan Kennedy unbelievably suggested Scott Brown didn't know who Warren was. It is more likely that Brown doesn't know who Kennedy is than he can't recognize a prominent Democratic candidate for his Senate gig. more ›

Usually, if you see the word "weather" on Bostonist then its a bad thing. Endless snow, heavy rain or cold temperatures. Now, it's floods. Yes, rain and mild temperatures combined with melting snow has caused the National Weather Service to declare a flood watch until Monday morning in the Bay State - it began at 1 p.m. today. The folks at WBZ originally planned the first debate for September 8. That turned out to be the start of Rosh Hashanah. The debate was moved to September 7 without a hitch. The next gubernatorial debate got moved from Tuesday, October 26 to Monday, October 25 to avoid conflict with the Boston Celtics' season-opening game against the Miami Heat. One word: Interns!

Someone at WBZ must have checked their calendar, or simply read Bostonist, because they already moved the first guberatorial debate to avoid a conflict with the Jewish New Year. The start of Rosh Hashanah is one of the holiest days on the Jewish calendar. The first debate was initially scheduled for September 8 at 7 p.m. It's now set for September 7 at 7 p.m. The debate includes Governor Deval Patrick, Republican Charles D. Baker, state Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill, an independent, and Green-Rainbow candidate Jill Stein, who is Jewish. We love it when people, or TV stations, simply do the right thing.
