Boston Blotter: With a Friend Like This...

--Three teens, at least two of whom were friends, went to Callahan State Park in Framingham on Saturday to smoke marijuana and only two lived to tell the tale. The trio arrived in a Volvo, two fought over some allegedly stolen pot, guns were drawn and witneses heard three shots and a man yelling. According to police reports, the shooter said he would kill the victim and anyone who snitched on him, and "did not care if he went to jail for life." Nice. His attorney asked for cash bail - really - which the judge obviously denied. [MetroWest Daily News]

According to TMZ.com and ABC via WCVB, Michael Jackson, 50, died after he suffered cardiac arrest on Thursday. Various reports say paramedics responded to his home where he was already in cardiac arrest. Jackson dominated pop music in the 1980's after becoming a star in the 1970's as a member of the Jackson 5. The LA Times has posted < href="http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-bio-mjackson-pg,0,5657216.photogallery?index=1">a collection of photographs of Jackson. Jackson has three children Michael Joseph "Prince" Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael "Blanket" Jackson II.

Boston Blotter: Not What a Beat Reporter is Edition

--O'Ryan Johnson, a Boston Herald crime reporter, faces up to 10 years in prison for allegedly kicking a man in the chest. Johnson asked for help at a laundromat in Groveland and the 74-year old man who responded got yelled at then kicked. Johnson was reportedly with a young girl. [Lawrence Eagle Tribune]

According to Boston.com, the Boston Newspaper Guild rejected $10 million in wage and benefit cuts, mandated by The New York Times Co. to keep operating the paper, by a vote of 277-265. WCVB also reported the vote. The Globe reported a high turnout for the vote.

Justice for Patrick?

Governor/First BFF Deval Patrick is in Washington, D.C. today as President Barack Obama rolls out new fuel and emission standards. Obama plans for these new standards, which include requiring cars and light trucks to get 35 miles per gallon, to be in practice by 2016. Of course, there is a big bunch of media speculation that Patrick is really there to discuss the looming Supreme Court opening that the President will have to fill.

Boston Blotter: Kids Brought  to Drug Deals?

--For the third time in recent weeks, Quincy police have arrested people on drug charges who allegedly brought their children to apparent drug deals. On Thursday, a 21-year old Hyde Park woman brought her 4-week-old baby boy with her while making an alleged heroin delivery. Police allege the suspect admitted to having heroin hidden in her underwear when officers confronted her. The woman and a man who accompanied her were both charged with heroin trafficking. The baby was taken to Quincy Medical Center and police notified the state Department of Families and Children. Men allegedly selling cocaine, in March, and OxyContin, in April, brought young children with them. [Patriot Ledger]

SWINE FLU IN BOSTON?WCVB is reporting a "probable case" of swine flu H1N1 virus at the Harvard Dental School. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will hold a news conference Thursday night to discuss the case.
