--U.S. Marshals participating in Operation FALCON with other state, local and federal law enforcement agencies arrested 558 wanted criminals on 910 warrants in June. Yes, 558 lawbreakers in 30 days, or almost 20 each day. Bostonist is relieved to know about these arrests. But, that is a shockingly high number, isn't it? [Herald]

Oddblotter: When Ninjas Fail

We're no experts at robbing people by swordpoint, but we feel certain that we could do a better job at it than the mysterious man, dressed as a ninja, who tried to knock over a Tedeschi convenience store and a dry cleaner in Weymouth. The Patriot Ledger reports that the man threatened a clerk at the convenience store Monday night with a sword, but made a crucial ninja mistake:

-- A 35-year-old man was shot this morning near Dorchester High, putting the school into lock down. The man's wounds were non-life-threatening, and no arrests have been made. [Herald]

-- A fight that began at a McDonald's last night escalated into a street brawl that resulted in two stabbings and landed eight in jail. Police say that three girls assaulted a fourth at a Roxbury McDonald's around 7:00pm last night, a fight that ended when an onlooker called 911. Police captured the three suspects, two 15 year-olds from Dorchester and a 16 year-old from Roxbury. But it didn't end there.

--A man walking on a pond in Weymouth on Sunday fell in and was rescued before freezing to death. Neighbors heard his screams and called for help. The footage of the rescue was so dramatic that it's been making the rounds on CNN. [WCVB]

--Three firefighters were injured in a blaze in Weymouth. At first, officials suspected arson because the home was about to be sold, but they've since declared it accidental. [WBZ]
