Police suspect the man who robbed the Bank of America at 25 Bartlett Road in Winthrop today also robbed the East Boston Savings Bank in on the Revere Beach Parkway in Everett on Thursday. The robber in each case was described as a white man in his 40s. Police say he took an "undetermined amount of cash. In Winthrop, the suspect showed a "pipe bomb-type device," which he left with. The Everett device was not functioning. [WCVB]

-- Former state senator Anthony Galluccio's parole begins July 14 after one member of the Massachusetts Parole Board approved his release Thursday. Galluccio went to jail in January for a probation violation. His parole requires he attend AA meetings and take regular drug and alcohol tests. [Globe]
-- Sean Shanahan, a TSA employee whose responsibilities include patting down airline passengers, was arrested yesterday on multiple charges of sex crimes against a minor, including statutory rape. The 44-year-old Winthrop man is sure to become the poster boy for privacy advocates who oppose the TSA's full-body scanners. The alleged victim, a 14-year-old girl, was reportedly a friend of Shanahan's daughter who would spend the night at their house, giving Shanahan the opportunity for the alleged rapes. [Herald]
-- Deanna Watkins, a 29-year-old mother, was shot to death Thursday night in front of her children at their home in Mattapan. Watkins had a troubled history, having drifted in and out of homeless shelters, and police believe that she was targeted by the masked gunman who killed her. [Herald; BPDNews]
-- A driver on the 43 bus intervened in a sexual assault last night, rescuing a woman who had allegedly been attacked by a 28-year-old man aboard the bus. The driver, Patrick Coughlan, noticed Rayfield McCants acting suspiciously on his nearly empty bus, sitting next to the victim and allegedly harassing her. Coughlan gave the victim refuge on the bus when the suspect tried to chase her after she got off the bus at Dartmouth and Tremont streets. [Herald]
