Hundreds of police officers honored Woburn officer John "Jack" Maguire, who was shot and killed during an attempted robbery the day after Christmas, in town yesterday. Officers will attend today's funeral at the Shriner’s Auditorium. An honor guard will form at 8 a.m. Maguire's death continues to create outrage, even in the person of Senator Scott Brown. "The fact that you have a violent offender, who was violent in and out of prison and was released, you know, it seems that there's a breakdown, and I think heads should roll," he said. Brown was referring to the fact that Dominic Cinelli, Maguire's alleged killer, was a career criminal who had been paroled after being sentenced to three life terms for 22 crimes. At least two letters from prosecutors have been found that opposed his being paroled as early as 2005. Gov. Deval Patrick ordered a review of Cinelli's 2009 parole. more ›
