Glen "Big Baby" Davis is living down to his nickname. He is lingering in restricted free agent limbo and it's taking a toll on the amiable big guy. He dropped some mercenary lingo on WEEI on Monday. He actually told Jeff Goodman "I’m going wherever someone wants to pay for my services," which is realistic and, frankly, necessary in the 21st century NBA, but not something loyal Celtics fans want to hear.
Yahoo! Sports reports the Red Sox offered pitchers Clay Buchholz and Michael Bowden and outfielder Ryan Westmoreland to Toronto for Roy Halladay. According the the report, the Sox offered "at least" those three prospects. Gordon Edes of Yahoo! Sports said Daniel Bard and Casey Kelly are "off-limits" to trades. The Globe reported the Yahoo! report. According to ESPN's TV bottom ticker thingie - technical term - Peter Gammons says this deal is unlikely as the Sox want to keep Westmoreland.
Daisuke Matsuzaka is a very rich man because he is an elite pitcher. He was, or should be. We think. His 1-5 mark and 8.23 ERA, made worse by an 8-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Friday, isn't good enough. What Tony Massarotti termed "The Dice-K Dilemma" is now at hand. Theo and Terry Francona are now faced with baseball's version of the Kobayashi Maru.
