JHamel has today's Film Friday photo, well photos. This triptych of the Zakim explores a few different angle of the world's widest cable stay bridge. The colors and angles are great, and the shots work well together. These images were made on a medium format camera, the Mamiya 645E using Fujicolor Pro 160S film.
Dan Squires has a terrific shot of the underside of the Zakim at night. This photo is a case study on interesting angles and lighting. It also serves up a unique perspective of the Zakim that most people will never see.
With the current snow emergency we decided to bring you a shot from erinhart00 who gives us this beautiful black and white. We love the way the curves of the foreground contrast against the straight lines of the background. Add to that the softness of the snow and water against the hard steel and concrete and we think this is just wonderful.
After giving a lot of thought to my first post as PotD editor for Bostonist, during which I came up with some really off-the-wall ideas, I decided that much like photography, it’s best to start with the basics. Here goes:
