Today we spent the day appreciating how much immigrants affect our daily lives. A sign hand-printed and posted in a local bodega's window read “Closed May 1st. A Day Without Immigrants. We are all immigrants.” Some of the best music has immigrated its way to the United States from places far and wide. Where would this week's lineup be without the rich flavor of the immigrant community? Music knows no borders. Let the decibels......

We’re working for the weekend and it's only Monday. Rainy day outside and the sun is reported MIA until Wednesday. Despite the current gloom, things are looking mighty green outside - a good sign of spring. Flowering trees have done their thing and soon we’ll be smelling the lilacs. If there's one thing that Bostonist loves almost as much as America's Next Top Model, it's The Critique of Pure Reason, a series of local events curated and produced by Stacie Slotnick. She's always bringing fantastic artists to town in interesting venues--anyone remember that fantastic Devendra Banhart/Joanna Newsom/Vetiver show at the Brazilian Cultural Center over the summer? Or the Jens Lekman/The Impossible Shapes/Pants Yell! show from two weeks ago? Tonight at 9:30, head on......
